LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — A health care overhaul may be on the table for the 39,000 Clark County School District employees after an independent consulting group told the Board of School Trustees it must make a change.
As health care costs continue to rise, the group says consolidating the districts and teachers unions health plans could help.
Many questions and answers come after Monday's 73-page presentation at a special Clark County School Board meeting.
Consultants say while the health plans that are in place are working, they won't last forever. So the School District and the Clark County Education Association are looking to consolidate its health insurance plans.
The independent consulting group is finding that could save money.
The CCEA executive director is in favor of putting the plans together.
The board will have to vote to consolidate the health plans. Then they'll negotiate with each bargaining unit until there's an agreement.
The School Board is scheduled to meet next on Thursday afternoon where they could revisit this topic.
