Toddler killed after leaving home, running into traffic

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A 2-year-old girl was killed Thursday night after she ran out of her home into traffic.

According to a Metro news release, the juvenile was in the northbound, right travel lane of Pecos Road, south of Dillon Avenue. A 2000 Ford Windstar was traveling northbound on Pecos in the right travel lane, when it struck the pedestrian. She was then possibly struck again by another vehicle, which failed to stop at the scene.

The toddler was pronounced deceased by responding medical personnel.

This is the 29th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2014. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
