LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A new idea that could save a local rodeo -- but might split the community in the process -- is on the table next week.
Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani plans on introducing a temporary permit to the Mexican Rodeo World Series to hold an event that would include the controversial sport of horse tripping.
The commissioner herself introduced and supported a ban on the sport, but since public outcry from both sides has sought to open a dialogue between the groups.
Her plan would grant permits for the sport with restrictions during a one-year review period to see its effects on animals
If it is allowed, the World Series is scheduled for the final weekend in September.
