A 25-year-old Henderson man was arrested on murder charges early Wednesday after he was accused of getting into a fight and killing another man.
According to a news release from the Henderson Police Department, Charles E. Pierce was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on murder charges after he called police early Wednesday saying he had gotten into a fight with another man and the man was not moving. The man was later found dead near the 100 block of West Basic Road.
Pierce walked to the police station and used the phone in the entry way to contact 9-1-1 about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday. He told a dispatcher he had got into a fight with another man who he did not know. He said the man was not moving. Pierce was asked to stay on the line as officers were on their way. Pierce then ran from the area. He was later caught.
The man’s body was located this morning by some bushes. The man, who appeared to be in his 30s or 40s, did not have any obvious wounds. An autopsy will determine the man’s cause of death.
It is unclear if Pierce knew the man before the incident, and detectives are still investigating what caused the two men to argue ultimately leading to a physical confrontation.
The Clark County coroner’s office will release the victim’s identity.
The man’s death is the fourth homicide in Henderson this year.
