LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Super Bowl Sunday is Feb. 2, and sports books across Las Vegas are already seeing a high interest in this year’s contest between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.
Local oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro tells us football betting has been getting progressively more popular in the past several years, and this year is no different.
The big winner is always the Silver State. Last year, around $99 million was bet on Super Bowl Sunday. Vacarro is expecting this year's to top that.
“Barring bad weather for people trying to come to our great city, I anticipate we'll do a minimum of $100 million.” Vaccaro said.
If that happens, it will be a record for the state.
Bettors such as Darren Bombara are not worried about those records. He's looking for a way to make money, with an eye toward proposition wagers.
Vacarro says the early money has come in strong for the Denver Broncos.
Although he knows Seahawks fans will be betting closer to kickoff, Vacarro says the Broncos will remain the favorite.
