Metro officer responds to emergency, helps deliver baby

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A Las Vegas Metropolitan Patrol Department officer helped deliver a baby girl Monday morning.

According to a Metro news release, Northeast Area Command patrol Officer Jesus Jimenez was dispatched to an apartment complex around 9:40 a.m. in the 5200 block of East Charleston Boulevard in response to a call of a female in labor.

Officer Jimenez arrived and discovered the mother-to-be in the back seat of a vehicle in the parking lot. Before the arrival of medical personnel, Officer Jimenez assisted in delivering the baby, unwrapped the umbilical cord from the baby’s neck and cleared the baby’s airway so she could breathe.

Medical personnel arrived and transported the mother and child to Sunrise Hospital.
