LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – An attempt to serve an eviction notice this morning led to a standoff situation and then a self-inflicted gunshot wound to a man near Rainbow and Flamingo.

Officer Laura Meltzer said Metro was notified just after 11:20 a.m. to assist a constable attempting to serve an eviction notice on the 3900 block of Pamplona Street. The subject went back into his residence and barricaded himself, Meltzer said.

Metro's SWAT team was called and surrounded the residence.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Metro entered the residence and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to UMC in unknown condition, Metro said.

Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said Decker Elementary School was locked down starting at about 12:45 p.m.

Meltzer said nearby homes also were evacuated as a precaution.
