LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The Clark County coroner’s office released the identity of the victim in a carjacking Sunday morning on the Las Vegas Strip.
Jesus Manuel Magdaleno Jr., 33, of Visalia, Calif., was killed when he was ejected from a pickup truck that crashed in front of the Rio Hotel & Casino.
Metro investigators said two men were loading their pickup at the Flamingo Hotel valet when another man jumped into the driver's seat. The two who had been loading the truck then jumped into the bed as the vehicle fled westbound on Flamingo.
The pickup ran three red lights on Flamingo and was sideswiped by a Ford Escape at Valley View and Flamingo as it went through a fourth red light. The two men in the bed were ejected.
Magdaleno died at the scene, and the other was taken to UMC in critical condition. The alleged carjacker also was hospitalized with unknown injuries. The driver of the Escape and two passengers were treated and released.
