LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A driver who witnesses say ran a red light was killed Thursday night after colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Arville Street and Oakey Boulevard.
According to a Metro news release and witness statements, a 2002 Dodge Dakota was traveling east on Oakey just after 9:20 p.m., crossing Arville on a green signal. A 1997 Buick Park Avenue was traveling north on Arville approaching Oakey on a red signal. The Park Avenue entered the intersection on the red signal, resulting in an impact with the Dakota.
The front of the Dakota struck the left side of the Park Avenue. The Dakota rotated counter-clockwise and came to rest east of the intersection facing west. The Park Avenue rotated counter-clockwise and came to rest east of the intersection facing northeast.
The driver of the Dakota, a 42-year-old male, was transported to UMC Trauma by ambulance with nonlife-threatening injuries. The driver of the Park Avenue was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
This is the 63rd-traffic related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2013. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
