Man killed after vehicle hits boulder in parking lot

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A man was killed this morning after striking a boulder in a parking lot near Desert Inn and Sandhill roads.

According to Metro news release, an 87-yar-old man driving 2010 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Sandhill Road when it failed to stop for the red traffic signal at Desert Inn Road.

The vehicle crossed over Desert Inn, struck the median and veered into the southbound travel lanes. It entered into the parking lot of the Desert Inn Plaza, struck a large decorative boulder, and came to a rest.

The victim was transported to Desert Springs Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by attending medical personnel.

This is possibly a medically related incident. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
