LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Two fatal accidents overnight are serving as a reminder to be cautious on the roadways on this holiday.

Both victims were motorcyclists. One accident occurred at Tropicana and Dean Martin; the other was in the eastern portion of the valley, near Charleston and Tree Line.

According to a Metro news release, a 22-year-old male riding a 2009 Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling northbound on Dean Martin Drive just before 3 a.m. today when he failed to maintain the roadway while negotiating a curve.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the victim as Christopher Carle of Las Vegas.

The motorcycle traveled off the east side of the roadway and impacted a short concrete wall with a chain link fence on top. Carle was ejected as a result of the impact and pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

In the second accident, a 2004 Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling westbound on Charleston Boulevard at a high rate of speed just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday without lights and approached the intersection of LInn Lane.

A 2006 Dodge Caravan traveling eastbound on Charleston attempted to make a left (northbound) turn onto Linn Lane. A 1996 Ford Explorer was southbound on Linn Lane, north of Charleston, stopped at a posted stop sign. The Dodge began to make its left turn, and the Honda motorcycle collided into the right front of the Dodge, resulting in major damage.

The rider was ejected from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. After the impact with the Honda, the Dodge drove forward and collided into the front end of the Ford.

Before the collision, a Metro patrol officer attempted to make a vehicle stop on the Honda, approximately 1 mile from the crash scene. The Honda fled the vehicle stop, and the patrol officer did not pursue the motorcycle.

The deaths were the 89th and 90th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2013. The collisions remain under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
