Suspect in hit-and-run of 11-year-old surrenders

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The driver suspected of a hit-and-run incident that sent an 11-year-old boy to the hospital has turned himself in.

According to a Metro news release, Rodrigo Tomax, 25, and his passenger, Chamilla Cabada-Garcia, 20, notified the North Las Vegas Police Department this morning that they were in the car that struck the child on the sidewalk around 9:20 p.m. Monday near Bonanza and Eastern.

Tomax was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

The accident remains under investigation by Metro’s Accident Investigation Section.
