LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A motorcyclist was killed this afternoon in 2400 block of Western Avenue, just north of Sahara Avenue.

Metro Officer Jose Hernandez said the accident involving a green 2006 Chrysler 300 and a motorcyclist occurred around 2:10 p.m. north- and southbound lanes of Western are closed in the area for the investigation. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Metro, the motorcyclist was driving on the wrong side of the road and at one point may have been popping wheelies.

According to the police report, witness said a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR with a single rider crossed over the center line and was traveling northbound in the single southbound travel lane passing vehicles at a high rate of speed.

The 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by 40-year-old Charlene Perrone of Henderson was turning left from northbound Western Avenue into a parking lot on the west side of Western Avenue. The Honda CBR impacted the left side of the Chrysler 300 on the driver's door.

The motorcyclist was ejected after impact and landed in front of the Chrysler 300 and was partially pinned under the front of the Chrysler as it came to rest.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The driver of the Chrysler 300 was transported to UMC Trauma with minor injuries.

This is the fourth traffic related fatality and the first motorcycle fatality of the year in Metro's jurisdiction. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
