MOUNT CHARLESTON (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A missing hiker was rescued Thursday night in the very same place where Metro Search and Rescue Officer David VanBuskirk lost his life in July.

The 20-year-old hiker was with a friend in the Mary Jane Falls area of Mount Charleston on Wednesday afternoon when he got sick and could no longer walk. His friend went to get help.

The hiker was found about 24 hours later. During that time, the hiker’s family camped out in their car, finally getting the call they prayed for.

“Then we just got the call, and we are like, ‘Oh my God!’ ” said stepmother Connie Johnson. “Everybody in the family is just hanging on pins and needles.”

The Johnson family could not stop singing the praises of Metro Search and Rescue as well as the U.S. Forest Service.
