NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A 17-year-old girl died Thursday night on her way home from a Halloween party with her grandparents and toddler son.
According to a news release from the North Las Vegas Police Department, dispatch received a report of a fatal crash at Ann Road and Coleman Street just before 9:45 p.m. Arriving officers found a 74-year-old man and 72-year-old woman suffering life-threatening injuries, a 2-year-old boy suffering non-life threatening injuries and a deceased teen. The elderly couple and young boy were transported to local hospitals.
Preliminary investigation indicates the 74-year-old man was driving his 2000 Chrysler sedan occupied by all four family members south on Coleman Street when he encroached the path of a 2000 Dodge Dakota traveling west on Ann Road. The Dodge truck struck the Chrysler's driver's side killing the rear passenger and injuring the other three occupants.
The 21-year-old driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
At this point, it remains unclear who had the right of way at the time of the crash and whether speed or alcohol are factors. Charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
The identity and cause of death of the decedent will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
