LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- No one would choose to live a life of sexual slavery, so how do pimps lure women into prostitution? Some pimps' methods are predictable, but their tactics are changing.
Experts say a large public setting such as a mall is a common spot right now for pimps to recruit young teens. Annie Lobert, a former prostitute, says another tool used is social media.

Lobert now leads an organization called Hookers For Jesus. She passes fliers out on the Strip with a hot line number for help. Her story is one she hopes young girls will learn from.

Lobert said cash caught her interest, and a pimp sealed the deal.

“He was like my knight in shining armor basically,” she said. “He was my answer to every problem.”

But fear overshadowed infatuation: “I was afraid of him.”

To please her pimp, Lobert sunk into selling sex. Her pimp's pocket is where most of the money she made went, but his promises kept her around. Pimps pick prostitutes, she says, by searching for girls who are alone.

“ ‘Hey if you do this for me, I'll love you more. If you do this for me, you'll get nice things. If you do this for me, we'll get married and we'll get out of this lifestyle one day,’ ” Lobert said.

And for girls without confidence, the best tactic of all is looking for a girl that is insecure and needs love. A way to filter candidates is through social media.

“They would watch her posts on Facebook or her blog or her Twitter, and they'll look for someone that has a low self-esteem,” Lobert said.

Pimps also looked for someone uninhibited.

“ ‘Oh look at my new bikini,’ and they're just a young girl showing the bikini, but they see that as a doorway in to email and say, ‘Hey you're kind of hot. Hey, do you have a boyfriend right now? Hey I'd like to take you shopping; you want to get another bikini?” Lobert said.

Lobert says the desire for nice things can even lure a middle-class girl into prostitution.

She says a need for money got her in the business, but even after escaping her pimp, she still sold her body for money.

Lobert says a drug overdose finally got her out of prostitution.

She warns the business is powerful and can hook girls in who are looking to fulfill some basic wants of money and love.
