LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Las Vegas will add two new water parks to its list of attractions this summer.

Both are looking to add people to the job force in Las Vegas.

At the offices of Wet ‘N’ Wild Las Vegas earlier this month, it was a day of non-stop interviews. The company is looking to fill from 300 to 400 positions, from park workers to lifeguards.

Many of those sitting down for job interviews were young people.

“The local investors, one of the major parts of bringing the water park to Las Vegas was to focus on seasonal employment,” said Trevor Wilson, director of marketing for Wet ‘n’ Wild. “It's a great opportunity for people to get a start into the business world.”

As recently as last year, teens and young adults have experienced unemployment as high as 25 percent.

As the park pushes toward its final stretch of construction, another establishment -- Cowabunga Bay Water Park in Henderson -- is making a big push to get up and running.

“We think there's room for both,” said Cowabunga Bay owner Shawn Hassett. “Ultimately the locals will be the ones to win out because they'll get two different parks and two different experiences.”

Both look to cater to a group the city has been trying to capture with more options.

“Our major focus is families within the communities,” Wilson said. “Certainly, there is the element of in-bound tourist. We're really focusing on visiting families and friends.”

Wet ‘N’ Wild (Fort Apache and Sunset) and Cowabunga Bay (Galleria and Gibson) plan to open around Memorial Day.
