<span style="font-style: italic; ">A Las Vegas paving truck spilled its load of gravel on the northbound lane of U.S. 95. The spill is estimated to be about one mile long from Washington Blvd. to Lake Mead. News 3' Tom Hawley is over the 95 near Washington with the details.</span><br /><br />LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas Sun) --Nevada Highway Patrol shut down a stretch of U.S. 95 for 2 1/2 hours after a cement mixing truck dumped about eight tons of cement gravel Friday on the roadway.<br /><br />At 2:30 p.m. the roadway was closed between Summerlin Parkway to Lake Mead Boulevard, said Trooper Loy Hixson, spokesman for the highway patrol.<br /><br />Debris stretched from the Rainbow Boulevard curve to the Lake Mead Boulevard exit, and the man driving the cement truck did not stay on scene, Hixson said.<br /><br />The driver called in the incident after he had realized his truck&#8217;s load was missing, Hixson said.<br /><br />Roadways were reopened around 4:55 p.m., he said.&nbsp;The cause of the incident is still under investigation, Hixson said.<br /><br />No injuries were reported and crews have finished cleaning up the scene, Hixson said.<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 8pt; ">--By Gregan Wingert / Las Vegas Sun</span></div>

<b>LAS VEGAS (AP) &#8212; </b>The wrong way driver, identified as twenty year old Mario Valencia from North Las Vegas, was driving a green 1996 Ford Explorer which caused two separate collisions at US-95 and Flamingo Road.<br /><br />The Clark County coroner has identified the 58-year-old driver who died after his car was struck by a motorist going the wrong way on U.S. 95 as Ramiro Meza of North Las Vegas.<br /><br />Valencia was pronounced dead at the scene.&nbsp;Authorities say Meza died from injuries sustained after his the early morning collision on the Las Vegas freeway.<br /> <br />   Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott says the driver died at a hospital following the fiery crash just before 5 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 95. <br /> <br />   Officials say they received several emergency calls about a Ford Explorer traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. Minutes later, that driver slammed head-on into a Toyota 4-Runner near Flamingo Road and died on scene.<br /> <br />   Troopers say U.S. 95 reopened about 9 a.m. after being closed for more than four hours for the investigation.<br /> <br />   No serious injuries were reported in a chain-reaction crash on the opposite freeway lanes that officials say happened when a motorist stopped to move crash debris.<br /><br />Traffic on U.S. Route 95 in Las Vegas was snarled until &nbsp;in both directions as crews worked to extract the body of the wrong-way driver who died at the scene of the fiery head-on crash.<br /><br />Elliott says the vehicle was first reported on the highway at the Russell Road, and made it past Flamingo before slamming into a Toyota just before 5 a.m. Both of the vehicles burst into flames.<br /><br />The male driver of the Explorer died at the scene, while the driver of the Toyota was taken to UMC with serious injuries from which he later died, though they were initially reported as not life-threatening.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic; "><span style="font-size: 8pt; ">&#169;2012 Associated Press. LAS VEGAS (KSNV &amp; MyNews3) -- Part of Boulder Highway was shut down right on both directions after a fatal crash in the area near Nellis today.<br /><br />News 3's Tom Hawley is checking out the area. We're hearing this one involves a motorcycle and a cement dump truck.<br /><br />Police are looking for a dump truck driver who they say hit a motorcyclist. This all happened just before 3 p.m. today.<br /><br />This was initially called in as just a single-vehicle accident and a rollover. The motorcycle spilled onto the Boulder Highway heading north west in front of Sam's Town.<br /><br />It was after that that a secondary accident occurred with the dump truck hitting the motorcyclist who was on the ground and that may have caused the fatality.<br /><br />The driver of the vehicle got out and looked at what happened then got back into the dump truck and took off and left the scene.<br /><br />The identity of the motorcyclist has not be released.</div>

LAS VEGAS -- The Nevada Department of Transportation on Friday, May 18 will be closing a portion of Rainbow Blvd. and will detour U.S. 95 southbound.<br /><br />This is being done in order to safely pour concrete onto the bridge decks for the Summerlin HOV flyover bridge that is currently under construction.<br /><br />The traffic reconfiguration will consist of one marathon weekend beginning Friday at 9 p.m. and will be open to traffic again by 5 a.m. Sunday.<br /><br />Drivers heading south on U.S. 95 will be detoured through Rainbow Blvd. Motorists driving east on Summerlin Parkway will be diverted through Buffalo Ave., to connect to U.S. 95 NB.<br /> <br />There will be no restrictions to connect from U.S. 95 northbound to Summerlin Parkway West. Drivers that need to get across Rainbow Blvd. will be diverted through surface streets and marked detours. Northbound U.S. 95 will be restricted to one lane near the construction area. Silverstream Ave. will also be closed at Rainbow Blvd.<br /><br />Detours and delay times will be provided using dynamic message signs, construction signs and overhead signals.<br /> <br />Drivers can take suggested detours or use their own preferred alternate routes to reach their destination. Pedestrians will be escorted at the Rainbow Blvd., bridge to be safely directed across.<br /><br />Nevada Highway Patrol will be patrolling the area to ensure drivers use caution near the construction zone.<br /><br />The Summerlin HOV connector is a federally funded project designed to create an overpass for drivers using the HOV connectors to exit onto Summerlin Parkway safely by avoiding weaving traffic. The $26 million project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2012. <br /></div>

<span style="font-weight: bold; ">LAS VEGAS&nbsp;(AP) &#8212; </span><span>The Nevada Highway Patrol says a man is dead and two people are hospitalized with critical injuries after a single-vehicle rollover crash on a key Las Vegas-area freeway interchange ramp.</span><br /><br /><span>Trooper Jeremie Elliott says all three people were thrown from the Ford Focus during the crash a little after 6 a.m. Monday on the curved ramp from the eastbound 215 Beltway to southbound Interstate 15.</span><br /><br /><span>The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Elliott says a man and a woman were taken to University Medical Center.</span><br /><br /><span>Investigators aren't sure yet who was driving, but Elliott says it looks like alcohol was a factor in the crash.</span><br /><br /><span>The ramp is closed. That's snarling the morning commute for some motorists.</span><br /></div>

<span style="font-weight: bold; ">LAS VEGAS --</span> As part of the I-15 Design-Build South project, southbound Interstate 15 will be closed from Russell Road to I-215/CC-215 for installation of the new railroad bridge over the freeway.<br /><br />All southbound I-15 traffic will be routed off of the Interstate at Russell Road first from 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, then from 10 p.m. Friday, June 1, to approximately 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3.<br /><br />The ramps from Flamingo Road, Tropicana Boulevard and Russell Road to southbound I-15; the southbound access roads; and Dean Martin Drive at the railroad also will be closed. Dean Martin Drive will remain closed and scheduled to reopen by Monday, June 4.<br /><br />The existing railroad bridge over Interstate 15 southbound will be removed and new spans will be placed over the freeway and access road. The movement of the bridge will be done by self-propelled modular transport vehicles that will lift the spans from below.<br /><br />&#8226; Traffic on I-15 southbound will be detoured to multiple routes. The primary detour will have traffic exiting I-15 southbound at Russell Road, traveling on Russell Road to Decatur Boulevard, and then Decatur Boulevard southbound to CC-215, then CC-215 eastbound to I-15 southbound. Other detours include:<br /><br />&#8226; US 95 northbound to Summerlin Parkway westbound, to Decatur Boulevard southbound to CC215 eastbound to I-15 southbound.<br /><br />&#8226; I-515 southbound to I-215 westbound to I-15 southbound.<br /><br />&#8226; Tropicana Avenue or Flamingo Avenue westbound to Decatur Boulevard southbound to CC215 eastbound to I-15 southbound.<br /><br />&#8226; Las Vegas strip traffic will be diverted southbound on Las Vegas Blvd to Blue Diamond Road westbound to I-15 southbound.<br /><br />&#8226; Motorists are advised to use eastbound Tropicana Ave. for access to the airport during the closure.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic; "><span style="font-size: 8pt; ">-- From news release</span></span><br /></div>

<span style="font-weight: bold; ">LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3 &amp; Las Vegas Sun) &#8211;</span>&nbsp;A standoff between a suicidal man and Metro Police that shut down traffic on part of Rainbow Boulevard in the northwest valley has ended with the man taking his own life, police said.<br /><br />The man phoned police shortly after 10 a.m., telling them that he was despondent and going to kill himself, police spokesman officer Marcus Martin said.<br /><br />Police responded to a home on Alpine Brooks Avenue, and a standoff began when the man refused to come out, Martin said.<br /><br />SWAT team negotiators were speaking with the man, and traffic has been closed in both directions on Rainbow Boulevard between Tropical Parkway and Ambiance Lane, Martin said.<br /><br />There is no indication anyone else is in the home, Martin said.<br /><br />Check back on MyNews3.com for updates. <br /></div>

LAS VEGAS (KSNV &amp; MyNews3) -- Traffic lane restrictions will be in effect on Vegas Drive, between Rancho Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard through Friday,June 8.<br /><br />Inside lanes in both east and west directions of travel will be closed from 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Closures will take plance on Tuesdays through Fridays, with some occasional closures on Mondays and the weekends.<br /><br />The lane closures are required to allow for completion of work on median island improvements. The improvements will consist of decorative rock and boulder placement along with installation of metal sculptures of desert flora and fauna.<br /><br />This type of median island improvement project provides aesthetic improvements to the corridor, but with lower construction and maintenance costs, and without the utilization of irrigation water.<br /><br />A total of 18 median islands will be improved, with an estimated project cost of $90,000.<br /><br /></div>
