No injuries reported in Vegas tour bus fire

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters say no injuries have been reported after a small tour bus caught fire on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Clark County Fire Deputy Chief Erik Newman says passengers all got off the bus safely when it caught fire about 3 p.m. Wednesday near the Excalibur and Luxor casinos.

The fire was put out soon after.

It wasn't immediately clear who owned the bus or how the fire started.

U.S. Forest Service closes Deer Creek Road for paving

LAS VEGAS – The U.S. Forest Service has closed State Route 158 (Deer Creek Road) on Mount Charleston, as crews perform paving work north of the picnic area to Lee Canyon Road.

The road will be re-opened at 7 p.m. Wednesday to all traffic.

The campgrounds will remain open but are only accessible via Kyle Canyon Road. Motorists needing to travel between Kyle Canyon and Lee Canyon Road are advised to use U.S. 95 as an alternate route to get across the mountain.

The paving work is part of the Desert View Outlook project.

Sandstorm blamed in fatal pileup near Winnemucca

WINNEMUCCA (AP) — A sandstorm is being blamed for a 26-vehicle pileup near Winnemucca that troopers say left one person dead and two others seriously injured.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Stewart said others had minor injuries in the crash that happened about 6 p.m. Monday on Interstate 80.

Images from the scene showed crunched-up vehicles, at least one overturned SUV, and damaged semitrailers with their loads spilling onto the road.

Traffic was diverted through Winnemucca while officials cleaned up the scene.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the injured were being treated at a Winnemucca hospital.

Possible domestic dispute ends up in wreck on U.S. 95

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) -- Two drivers believed to be in a dating relationship wound up in a four-car crash on U.S. 95.

According to Trooper Loy Hixson of the Nevada Highway Patrol, NHP received a call at 11:45 a.m. concerning a crash on U.S. 95 near the Rainbow curve.

A female was driving a coupe and was hit by a male driving another vehicle. The woman lost control and struck another vehicle and both cars end up in the right shoulder of the U.S. 95.

The male driver then struck another vehicle as he tried to flee the scene. No one was injured according to Hixon

The right lane of the U.S. 95 was shut down until about 1:30 p.m.

The man and woman are believed to be in a dating relationship. No one taken into custody, the woman is cooperating with authorities.

Crash closes lane of I-15 near Arizona-Nevada border

PHOENIX (AP) — A serious crash has closed the northbound lane of Interstate 15 about one mile northeast of Arizona's border with Nevada.

Arizona Department of Transportation officials say the accident occurred late Friday morning, but details weren't immediately available.

They say there's no estimate yet on when the northbound lane of I-15 will be reopened.

F Street underpass work to close Interstate 15 lanes, ramp

LAS VEGAS — Construction will begin Sunday on the first phase of multiphase F Street connection project, which will reopen the F Street Underpass at Interstate 15.

Motorists can expect lane reductions and traffic shifts on northbound and southbound I-15 between U.S. 95 and Washington.

The initial work for the first phase will consist of lane shifts, the removal of median barrier rail and high mast lighting as well as temporary paving for future Phase 2 lane shifts.

Changeable message signs will be placed throughout the work zone, and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone. Project work hours will run nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning.

Starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, work will commence on the northbound I-15 lanes between U.S. 95 and Washington. Lanes will be shifted to the right (east), with three travel lanes, one exit lane to D Street and minimized shoulders (two feet). In addition, rolling lane closures will take place throughout the night. The D Street/Washington exit will close that night and reopen in the morning. The detour for the D Street ramp closure will be the Lake Mead Boulevard exit. The exit lanes to Washington and U.S. 95 will not be impacted during daytime hours.

On Monday and Tuesday, southbound I-15 lanes will be shifted to the right (west) and reduced from four travel lanes to three in order to restripe the southbound lanes. Rolling lane closures will also take place throughout the night. There will be lane closures on the median side of northbound and southbound I-15 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night to allow for the placement of temporary barrier rail to create a safe work zone.

The $13.6 million F Street project is collaboration between NDOT and the city of Las Vegas and is scheduled for completion in late 2014.

Cactus Avenue interchange work to narrow Interstate 15

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada transportation officials say an Interstate 15 interchange construction project will force traffic shifts and lane closures just south of Las Vegas through the end of the year.

The Nevada Department of Transportation says work on the Cactus Avenue interchange will narrow traffic to two lanes in each direction between Silverado Ranch Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway.

Most lane restrictions begin next Tuesday and Wednesday.

NDOT spokesman Damon Hodge says the $62 million project will add an interchange and improve Cactus Avenue between Dean Martin Drive and Las Vegas Boulevard.

It'll also upgrade drainage and flood control in the area.

Overall construction on the project started April 1.

It's scheduled to be finished by November 2014.

Dump truck fire closes U.S. 93 north of Wickenburg

PHOENIX (AP) — A dump truck fire has closed U.S. 93, the main highway between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Arizona Department of Transportation officials didn't immediately release any other information about the Thursday morning accident.

They say the highway is closed in both directions about 20 miles north of Wickenburg and there's no estimated time for the highway to reopen.

Portion of Sky Pointe Drive to close for upgrades

LAS VEGAS — Sky Pointe Drive will be closed from Private Drive to New Leaf Avenue from Tuesday to July 9 for upgrades.

In addition to widening a portion of Sky Pointe, the project will include storm drain improvements, new lighting, sidewalks, landscaping and aesthetics and more.

Message boards are already in place to alert motors to detours.

Northbound traffic on Sky Pointe will detour to Cimarron, then to Sunny Springs. Southbound traffic on Tule Springs will detour to Sunny Springs, then to Cimarron.

Motorists should heed all traffic control devices.

Lane restrictions set for Water Reclamation District work

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The Clark County Water Reclamation District announces lane restrictions across the valley as part of field survey work.

The work is scheduled to begin Monday and last through June 14, and the field survey work will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Affected areas will be:

-- Bermuda Road center turn lane at the intersection of Kachina Circle.
-- Bermuda Road left southbound lane at the intersection of Windmill Lane.

-- Bermuda Road southbound lane at the intersection of Robindale Road.

-- Robindale Road right eastbound lane at the intersection of Bermuda Road.
-- Valley View Boulevard southbound lane at the intersections of Serene and Ford avenues.
