Obama, Reid tout Nevada as leader in renewable energy

UNLV was the president’s last stop on his two-day visit to Las Vegas.
Inside, an upstairs conference room at the university’s Student Union was packed with several hundred guests invited by the White House, Reid’s campaign, and UNLV.
“I am honored to introduce to you my friend and your friend, President Barack Obama!”
The president spent most of his time with pal and fellow Democrat Harry Reid. But Friday’s town hall was less about campaigning and more about the economy.
“It took years to dig this hole, and it's going to take more time than any of us would like to climb out of it,” President Obama told the crowd. “The question is how do we accelerate that process?”
He answered his own question, stating that the private sector will be the greatest generator of jobs in America.
“That’s why we've cut dozens of taxes for the middle class and small business people, tended loan programs to put capital in the hands of startups…”
President Obama's speech was similar to what he delivered Thursday night at a campaign rally for Senator Reid. Although he talked about the economy and job creation at UNLV, he also focused in on renewable energy.
“I’m urging Congress to invest $5 billion more in these kinds of clean energy manufacturing tax credits.”
“We’re going to make Nevada a leader in renewable energy,” Senator Reid adds. “(It’s) something we've made great strides in doing and a lot of it has to do with our work with this university.”
Ronald Smith is UNLV’s Vice President of Research. He’s also a leader in the school’s renewable energy efforts.
“Everything we've been doing is what President Obama has been talking about since he came into office. (Friday) Ssenator Reid talked about us being the solar capital at UNLV. To us, that is a message that we've made progress.”
Smith says with help from the very incentives the president talked about, UNLV and Las Vegas could lead the nation into a renewable future.
“If we get this grant and we go forth with this solar center,” says Smith, “this could be a potential game changer.”

But unfortunately I must agree with Obama when he said when he "took over the economy was in a ditch!"

Harry Reid (Dirty Harry) is not a friend of mine either. Harry Reid should go down to the oil spill and get the problem sloved. After all Harry saved City Center by making phone calls. He could do the same for the oil spill. Ha... Dirty Harry has been lying to us long enough. Time for Harry to pack his bags and leave Nevada.
The only office Reid should hold is Dog catcher in Searchlight. They are the only ones that want him.
Everyone in favor of giving up Nevada's majority leader seat for the untested Angle as the junior senator, please raise your hand.
But please.... keep your hand *inside* the window of that short bus and remain seated.

America's MOST valuable treasure is her blood. The blood of men and women who have given their lives. Harry Reid was wrong about Iraq. The single MOST important thing the government is charged with is protecting Americans from enemies foreign and domestic. Harry Reid failed this single test! He would of had the blood of brave Americans dry up in the sands of Iraq. Never mind whether or not we should of been there in the first place. Harry was trying to score political points using our nations treasure as some sort a gaming chip. Harry lost! This is Harry's legacy.
Both of them - BARACK OBAMA & HARRY REID were trying to forget the reality that NEVADA IS UNFORTUNATELY ALSO THE NATIONWIDE LEADER IN UNEMPLOYMENT AND HOME FORCLOSURES.
Does anyone remember the Reid/Pelosi/Obama mantra that the Health Care Bill would never ration health care to the elderly and that health care would never be used as a means of wealth redistribution ie: socialized medicine?
Obama waits until the legislature goes home on vacation to assign Donald Berwith alias Dr. DEATH to head up Medicare that has a bigger budget than the Defense Department, all without the checks and balances vetting that he would have received had he not been slipped in through the back door. Wake up America. Obama doesn't expect to be re-elected by popular vote in 2012. My guess is that he will probably use the Latino vote and Black Panther intimidation at the polling sites to capture another 4 years.

We don't need a leader on renewable energy, we need a honest and leader with integrity. Harry Reid does his be work behind close doors, so we don't know what he has pocketed or what favors he is repaying. Renewable energy is a specialize field and only a select few can work in those field, it is not helping the people that are unemployed. The energy bills that are passed do not all go to Nevada, a majority of the jobs and funds go to other states, like, California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, etc. Reid has been in office for 4 terms that is why we get the same old government. Vote for Sharron Angles, is she the best, no, but she will not inflect any more damage and she is a crusader for taxes. Reid and Obama plan on raising taxes next year to reduce the $15 trillion deficit this nation faces for all the bailouts,and Health Care Reform. Believe me you cannot afford a tax increase next year.
It looks like the select group of those who blindly follow was put together to make sure no one asked any type of intelligent questions. Were all the attendees wearing their "I'm with Stupid" t-shirts?
Ummm I was against Harry Reid, that was until I saw Sharon Angle the person hes going against. I am actually going to vote for Reid, Sharon Angle makes the devil look like an angel. Seriously before you bash Reid look what Sharon Angle stands for and then decide.
Reid over Angle? Gee that's a real brain burner! This isn't nor should it be a contest between personalities. That's what Reid wants to reduce it to. It's a contest between dramatic differences in ideological orientation. Las Vegas is a multi-billion dollar gaming and resort industry. Harry and Barry would like to treat multi-million dollar hotels and casinos into planter boxes with solar panels and windmills on top. Sharron Angle wants to get big government out of your hair, your kitchen, your bathroom and your bedroom by starting first with a program to build jobs through eliminating tax burdens and reducing the size of government and you think Reid is the better man for the job? Get real Don Steele!

The survey question is obviously worded so that if you support President Obama, you automatically want to press "yes" until you read the question more closely. Talk about rigging the outcome!
I have contacted Senator Reid's office many times in my own and for patients, some of whom were veterans who needed help. He has always come through. I can't imagine who would want someone like Sharon Angle in office ANYWHERE! She wants to eliminate Social Security, Medicare, does not want to work for the citizens who vote for her and that she would represent. ("Its not my job.") Pray tell what does she think she is supposed to do in a Senate position? Just sit back and rake in the money from special interests lobbyists?
Yes, Harry Reid needs more ideas to bring businesses and jobs into Vegas, but Angle is NOT the answer! Turn Yucca into a job producing facility. Bring our men back from the military and start reconstruction and repairs of our roads and housing for the needy. Put the medics to work in clinics for all. We are already paying their wages, let them work here repairing the economy instead of another country's economy and living conditions.

This is a blatant misrepresentation of Angel's public position. She defended her policy quite clearly when she explained that she would stop politicians like Harry Reid from dipping into the Social Security reserve to pay for unfunded programs. She is open to taking government completely out of managing Social Security, which like the Post office is an example of how the government has botched yet another behemoth government enterprise. (oxymoron intended) I am a combat disabled Veteran and I think I speak for many Veterans who are appalled that their sacrifice may be perverted by a socialist take over of the Republic. If Harry helped you with a couple of Veterans, good on both of you. That's at least one instance where he may be credited for doing his job.

Harry Reid is no friend of mine or NV.,he is a friend to the illegals ,if reelected he will pass amnesty and continue the destruction of our country with tax and spend policies down the Obama road.
