Three more names will be added to the memorial wall for fallen officers on Thursday, May 17 during the Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
The multi-agency event pays tribute to local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty from 1905 to present. The ceremony will be held at the Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way at 6 p.m.
The additions to the wall include:
U.S. Drug Enforcement Special Agent Don Cleo Ware, who died Oct. 12, 2004
Nevada Department of Corrections Officer Tracy Hardin who died Jan. 20, 2012
Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Jack London, who died May 17, 1943.
Altogether, 31 officers will be remembered at the ceremony from the following agencies: DEA, FBI, Henderson PD, NLVPD, Nevada Department of Corrections, Union Pacific Railroad, LVMPD, United States Marshal Service, and the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.
Speakers at the event include LVMPD Sheriff Douglas Gillespie, Lt. Tim Filson of the Nevada Department of Corrections and Assistant Special Agent in charge Paul A. Rozario of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
At the end of the ceremony, City of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony will rededicate the Law Enforcement Memorial Rock, which was recently moved to its current home at the Police Memorial Park.
