The Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District Office, Get Outdoors Nevada and Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown will be conducting a volunteer clean-up on the eastern edge of Lone Mountain from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11.
Volunteers will to help remove illegally dumped trash and litter in the area between the Lone Mountain Park and the base of Lone Mountain.
Efforts will involve walking in the desert, bending over and picking up trash. Sturdy shoes, a hat and sunblock are recommended. The BLM will provide snacks, water, trash bags, gloves and hand tools.
Registration begins on site at 8:30 a.m., the clean-up will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
In Southern Nevada, BLM sponsors about 10 volunteer clean-up events each year. Last year, volunteers remove 270 yards of trash from public lands. This amount equals an 80 story building that is three feet wide or almost 39 standard dump trucks.
